Sorry to correct you fellows but you are a bit adrift. The orange button on the back of the micrometer housing on a Plath Professional is to activate the two lights for reading the sextant - one on the arc and one on the micrometer. The batteries are stored in the cavity in the micrometer housing in front of the button. The battery cavity is accessed by turning the orange button and pulling it out. It then simply snaps back into the housing when the batteries are inserted. The button has no function relating to adjustment of the micrometer and the batteries on a Professional are definitely not in the handle. If you examine the handle you will see it is hollow. Normally batteries for lights on sextants are stored inside of the handle but this sextants handle is open and I see no other place for a light. I believe it was manufactured in 1977 and therefore has no light. It is in excellent shape and I am very pleased to receive it. Tnx for your help.
