You can't see much about the sextant itself.  The telescope does seem rather long, but you could make it so by pulling the eyepiece out to its fullest extent.  It's probably not much more than x5, probably inverting, and probably happier being used for horizontal survey work.  I wondered if it was staged.  It's difficult to check angles when the camera isn't at 90 degrees.  However, from the shadows, the Sun appears to be at about 15 degrees altitude, and the index arm appears to be about 1/6 of the way round the arc, so that's OK.  His clothes and boots looks straight out of the Amazon delivery box, so if it isn't staged, it's very early in an expedition.  He has however found a new use for the sextant box.  That of a bottom warmer Mk1.
