I didn't realize that there was a second edition of "We, the Navigators" (published in 1994). It's not just a re-printing. It's significantly updated. Google Books has it in limited preview. The passage on "te lapa" is expanded a bit and Lewis himself claims to have seen this phenomenon himself.
