Your paper does say that.  We on NavList have debated the "accuracy" of CN essentially forever.

There were two points I was trying to get across

    1) The area to search for Endurance is by square miles.  This exponential function means that the search area explodes in size as the error in CN grows linearly.

    2) The grid search utilized by every successful wreck searcher in the past, to find other wrecks, will be difficult at best for the Endurance if not impossible.

Unknown bottom+2 miles down+large search area; and the features of the Endurance must stand out from the background noise of the bottom.

To quote from our paper; "The full source data from the log books, on which the authors base their conclusions, is given in this paper. It is understood that others may choose to interpret this content differently",
