    Sean,

Double check your corr 2 for VEGA. If Z2 = 34 and A'= 38 then the correction is 18 rather than what you have at 12. The new Hc sum is now 36* 9'.

I'm not an advocate of the Nautical Almanac sight reduction tables. Too easy to make a mistake and impossible to do without a form. The same can be said for the Ageton method. Weems and Dreisonstok are easy to do mistake free without the use of a form and so get my vote for best short methods.

    Sean,

Looks like the calculated altitude of VEGA is incorrect for your assumed longitude of 76* 28' W. I get Hc 36* 9.4' for an intercept of 3.1 toward. Investigate VEGA

    Greg,

Your plot is much closer to the actual position of 37°03!3N, 076°28!6W.

So, what do you think was the greatest source of error in my work?

    Thanks!
    Sean C.
