As I understand the batteries exactly fitting this sextant MkIX are not produced anymore. What sort of batteries can be used? My (superficial) investigation shows that C-size batteries are likely to fit in diameter. How many are needed? The batteries only have to feed 2 bulbs. Are these 3 volts or 1.5 volts bulbs? In general, what is the difference between size C and size D batteries? Both are 1.5 volts, but size C is smaller.
