    The S1 scale is a scale of sines reading from 0 to 90 degrees from left to right and, in brackets, from 90 to 180 degrees reading from right to left. 

    The P scale is for values of SQRT (1-x^2) - a trig identity I would need to look up, but possibly used in the integral calculus.
