I've re-worked the sextant readings on this one
to yield 3 LOPs that should cross at only one point (and I *finally* got a
decent manual plot that's only off from the GPS position by about 1/2 NM in
latitude and 0.1' in longitude, yay!): http://tinyurl.com/6c8lhk
So if anyone else wants to work it with the
revised values, it makes for a good accuracy check on both manual
computation/reduction and plotting. Here's just
the raw data so you don't have to wade through the narrative again:
Last DR position: 34°13'N 119°19'W
Local date: June 08, 2008
20:42:10 Vega 24° 07.4'
20:43:38 Spica 44° 10.4'
21:00:50 Pollux 21°
16.1'
He = 20'
Index error = 0.0'
ZD = +7.
Assume standard
atmospheric conditions since the barometer and thermometer are still missing at
sea (and presumed drowned).
