    Re: Radio time signals disappear

Robert's post got me thinking about backups.  If a disaster hits the USA - a really big one like volcano or astrode strike or ... then a short wave radio broadcast would be a good way ( old fashion ) to get info to the public.  I have several SW receivers that are battery powered and are used for WWV time hacks.

There must be millions of radios that can pick up the signal.  I know that regular radio stations can and will brodcast emergency information but I know of no other radio station that covers the whole USA and a large part of the world.

An emergency backup role might be a way to keep WWV funded.
