I balanced the polarizing camera filter on top of the sighting vanes one the astrocompass. I cut out a piece of cellophane and put it on top of the filter. I put a small mirror on the base of the astrocompass to allow me to look up though the filter at the zenith. I had to try different alignments of the cellophane to maximize the zenith light shift affect. I hope this helps. gl NavList@aol.com wrote: > Hi Gary, > at the moment my buddy and me are very interested in building our own SKY COMPASS here in Germany. From what I understand you have some photos and more on the subject. Placing it on our Astro Compass Mk II is what we have in mind. > I'm a retired airline pilot ex Lufthansa and still very interested in methods of long range navigation, especially in nothern parts of the world. > I greatly would appreciate photos and/or drawings on the subject. > Regards, > Cordt Machens > > cordt.machens@t-online.de > ---------------------------------------------------- > [Sent from archive by: cordt.machens-AT-t-online.de] > > > > > > --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
