    Hello again Gary !

Wtihout rejecting any of your sights, and working from their following averages - with all sextant values being corrected for instrument error as indicated here-under, so that you can check that I performed them in the right direction - I am using the following values :

    A1 and A2 : 08h50m06.5s / 04°28'15 , and
    A3 thru A6 : 09h08m47.5s / 08°45'53 , and
    #1 thru #6 : 09h16m36.7s / 10°34'40 (still including a "smoking" #3 !), and
    B1 thru B3 : 09h24m54.0s / 12°28'83 , and

through treating all observations as plain LOP's, I am getting the following observed positions :

    09h00m00.0s UT / N14°54'6 / W054°51'0, which is equivalent to :

    09h15m00.0s UT / N14°53'7 / W054°53'7, which is also equivalent to :

    09h30m00.0s UT / N14°52'8 / W054°56'4.

    as a special notes :
1 - our error ellipse is quite interesting here ! and we would all definitely appreciate a second body near azimut North or South would we not ? , and
2 - I also trust that I am not exactly playing the game you were expecting from us, but I did have fun in crunching your data this way.

BIG PICTURE : Whatever the accuracy of these results - probably "off" by some 30 NM to 40 NM, maybe up to 1° since the azimuts vary by such a huge amount from 100°9 to just 103°4 ... - at last I already know for sure that we are somewhere in the North Atlantic Ocean and sufficiently far from any immediate danger. Lest us then wait for a couple of hours and shoot Venus again, and we will start bagging some much more reliable positional data.

    Isn't that beautiful ???

And by the way, she was sailing PRETTY (and) FAST !

    Best Regards

    Kermit
