I am also a George B. with a physics degree.. but I am new to celestial navigation. I hope you don't mind me reading the information on your file server. Every time someone on the navlist links a site, it's usually full of great information.
What I meant by navigating toward lat and long intersections was; say the ship is located at at N23,W43 navigate toward N21,W41. Something like a running math game of lat,long "tag". I'm probably seeing something that is not there, but his course seems to cross a lot of lat,long intersections.
