    It seems to me both accounts are lower limb. Words are the problem.
    "Mirror" instead of "liquid", and "double reflected" instead "sextant sun."
    
    It is an artificial *horizon*, so the same as a lower limb sun
    observation. Simply put, in a lower limb AH sight the image from the
    view through the glass side (left) is tangent to the bottom of the image
    from the sextant mirrors (right side). In six words a LL is,
    sextant-mirror image over glass image.
