One wonders as to the source of the defective bolts. I would think that this thing was more than simply embarrassing. I expect that "difficult to replace" doesn't begin to do justice to the efforts required.

As to the reporters you mentioned, and their failings, not only aren't they engineers, though there could be exceptions to this, a great many of the genre aren't even good reporters. Some people might be taking notice of that which these days constitutes "reporting". To much in the way of slanted opinion, not nearly enough in the way of fact. As for whatsoever became of Who, What, When, Where, Why and How,the 4 or was it 5 W's an 1 H, that used to be the basis of reporting/news story writing, sad to note, seemingly long gone, a thing of the past.
