As regards the SIMBAD strange results earlier addressed here, I have received a provisional reply from CDS in Strasbourg. They acknowledge some inaccuracy for their SIMBAD results as a result from their recent shift to the HIPPARCOS 1992.25/2007 database because of a now improper Proper Motion Computation. This is right-on where you had pin-pointed it earlier last week, Paul ! It will nonetheless take some time to correct this situation :-((

Hello to all,
As Paul Hirose just mentioned to me in a private e-mail, it now (Jun 29, 2011) looks like the CDS SIMBAD Star Catalog Access Tool has been corrected and that their results are now computed correctly.
So, it became corrected just a few days after my conversation with their SIMBAD Software Astronomer last week.
