Brooke-I'd call that semantics. You may no longer need one physically installed in your nav station, but when any one of us uses the GPS system we do indeed need atomic clocks--plural. The typical GPS user is using 9-16 atomic clocks at all times, three or four of them on each of three or four satellites being used for the GPS to get a fix. Much more economical to put a couple of hundred atomic clocks in orbit, than to deploy one to each ship or user. Clever of them gummint boys.
