Gary,
Looking at the image more carefully blown up shows the lower limb at about 10' above the horizon using the Sun's width of 32' as a reference. Assuming a height of eye for the photographer at 6 ft. the result for a zero intercept from an assumed Lat 32* 52.0' N Lon 117* 15.3' W works out to UT 02:29:12 5/4/2013. Did you work it for the lower limb on the horizon ? What height of eye did you use ?

Frank, something really weird just happened. I sent this reply at 11:39 am but when it posted the top two lines were stripped off with my answer to the question.
It also was not sent back to be until 11:51 showing a delay of 12 minutes.
