By "Explorer's sextant," Syd may of course mean a box sextant, which Stanley certainly sold, but the catalogue illustration that I have, shows that Heath and Co actually made it, as it has their name on it. Heath and Co. merged with Stanley in 1926 and thereafter sold Heath sextants under the "Hezzanith" trade mark. Several are shown in Stanley's "U" catalogue as coming from "...our marine section, Heath and Company". I have seen one "real" nautical sextant named Stanley, but certainly made by Heath. It is a vernier sounding or survey sextant and I have described it here: http://sextantbook.com/category/sounding-sextants/ Where in Oz are you, Syd? There may be a list member nearby who can help.
