Frank,
I didn't try any video. The video is at 1 MP vs. 10MP for single images. The main problem has been lack of screen brightness. I have the setting turned up to the max and still can't make out the Sun well enough for arcing purposes. A scope type camera is needed with remote triggering so that the micrometer can be adjusted at the same moment the image is taken. I have gotten some excellent images using a DSLR and a prime 200mm lens with a great deal of eye hand juggling. Too difficult to be practical. The point and shoot camera is still useful for taking pictures of the sextant arc and stopwatch split time. This saves some writing.
