Has anyone tried to carry their sextant on board an aircraft since 9/11 and all of the security foolishness that has come to pass since then?

I have carried bubble sextants (A-12 with no radium), marine sextants and theodolites as carry-on luggage, starting in the UK and heading to Cairo, Cape Town and around the United States via the major hubs in Europe on many occasions. They usually want to see what is in the box after it has been through the X-ray machine, but that is the extent of the curiosity these instruments have aroused. Once they see it is not a bomb or an offensive weapon, they loose interest.
