Sean,
Great! Glad to see I am not the ONLY Kludge Luddite around!
My Slide Rules (All Pickett) vary from the simple
120 Microline (my first slide rule in 1971) to the more complex
N1010SL-T "Super" Power Trig and N500T Hi Log/Log
and the granddaddy's of them all the:
N32-ES Power Log Exp and the N4-ES Vector Log/Log
The Pickett you have the N902-ES is a wonderful little simplex with the same scales as on the plastic 120 Microline, the first rule I learned on and did HS Trig with.
The thing I like about the Pickett rules in my collection are the fact that they are metal (aluminum) and quite durable. Never break, and never go down. No Batteries and no power cord. I keep the N4 and N1010 on the boat, and the others at home to use in courses I take and teach.
Of course these little wheel jobs that Weems and Plath puts out, the "Nautical Slide Rule" and the granddaddy "Vectormaster" are really coo; and the Vectormaster is a great tool to use when under sail and trying to solve quickly for collision, speed and wind variances.
I love math! That is why I am a Navigator!
