I made a blunder in the next to last paragraph of a post sent in this morning, typing SHA Aries when I meant GHA Aries. Sorry!
And for clarity, I'd like to change that passage to read:
"The solution to the problem was Sidereal hour angle, together with GHA Aries. The SHA of stars--their angular distance west of Aries--is nearly constant. Add the SHA of any star to GHA Aries, subtracting 360 degrees if the sum exceeds that, and you have the Greenwich hour angle of the star. It's a convenient system, and takes little space."
