This is an interesting topic. When I go out I take with me my laptop with a sight reduction/ LOP/ N.A. program to use. I also,in the recent past, have included taking most likely the same program on my Palm as Jim mentions he uses.I find this is a very nice, handy, mobile tool to use.The features in this system are very nice for the price. I also take with me my programmable casio calculator, which has a base 60 feature,to use when I want.I also take a N.A. along. Not always for the current year.If the opportunity presents itself to practice useing an out of date almanac to complete a task I like to do that. I actually like the perpetual N.A. features of the software available. After the initial price of purchacing the software you need not spend $20.00 a year on paper pubs of the N.A. unless you want to. The electronic reduction/ Nautical Almanac software available is just real easy and quick to use. I use mainly this medium.
