Sounds like a lovely idea. Most beaches are made of silica, of course... When are your exams? Are you looking for data from a beginner with a Davis Mark III sextant and a saucer of water? With the weather warming up, I will be trying Some more sun sights. If I go out and get myself a reflective something and some leveling screws, I will take my first twilight shots -- Since I sail on the Chesapeake, I have never had a REAL horizon to use. Renee
