Re: Simulating platform instability on land?

Dave, just for some ballpark numbers, suppose I have a 100-ton sailing vessel from c.1850. I am sailing on a day with moderate ocean swells and waves. It's not bad weather, but it's not calm. What would you expect for the angular amplitudes and the frequencies of pitch, roll, and yaw? And what you expect for the amplitudes and frequencies of the linear accelerations for an observer at some "average" observing point on the vessel?

It occurs to me that this information is probably already available in software simulations of sailing vessels, even games. Anyone know any decent ship simulators for PCs or other common hardware? Anything web-based?
