Hi to all,
Just two excerpts from the quoted article :
1 - " this coming Solar maximum (2012 but possibly later into 2013) "
... Well, shortly stated - and even if it did resume a bit late - our current cycle started just a few months ago. I therefore strongly doubty a "maximum" would be reached so early !!! Solar activity cycles are known to have a period close to 11 years.
and :
2 - " NASA said that a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences found that if a similar storm occurred today, it could cause "1 to 2 trillion dollars in damages to society's high-tech infrastructure and require four to 10 years for complete recovery"."
... Maybe the author should have written " forty to 100 years to recover ..."
All in one, I would extremely cautious about such an article. Just my 4 cent ...
Antoine M. "Kermit" Coutte
PS : And if am wrong, I better start speculating right now on the sextant selling prices !!!
