While searching the web for pictures of John Philip Sousa and his famous band, I stumbled upon a neat website that may interest those who like to talk about occulations, oppositions, conjunctions, eclipses and sundry astronomical phenomena. http://transitofvenus.org/ How can JP Sousa possibly be associated with a Transit of Venus? He must have be intrigued enough with the 1882 transit to compose the 'Venus Transit March' when asked by the Smithsonian to perform at a ceremony that dedicated a statue of Joseph Henry, inventer of the electric motor. If you are interested, you can audition the catchy little ditty here: http://www.dws.org/sousa/mid/transit.mid Have fun --- CHAS
