This evening's broadcast of The News Hour had a segment dealing with spoofing GPS. In it, was shown a fancy looking power boat or yacht, equipped with all manner of electronic navigation, mention was made of an ""automatic pilot"", some PHD types manages to send this boat awry, their having figured out how to spoof GPS. Other aspects of such activity were mentioned too, messing with time, as such action might effect railroads, given that the train stays on the tracks. There was also some mention of aircraft being subject to such tampering I believe.
Re maritime activity, and spoofing the GPS, I was given to recall the old saw about a competent navigator never relies on any single method of navigation. Having here seen reference to ""spoofing of the Nautical Almanac"", cooking the book if you will, that could I suppose be done. Seems that distribution of the ""cooked"" NA's would present something of a problem.
