Robin Stuart wrote about using Bruce Stark's lunar tables for finding a body's calculated altitude and azimuth for a LOP solution. He shows a very nice solution for this.
There is however one drawback, at least in my second edition of the tables, from 1997: the log Dec tables goes only to a little more than 29 degrees, so this edition is limited for use mainly in tropical areas. Perhaps later editions have a fuller range of log Dec?
Regarding standard conditions for refraction, Bruce made a posting on May 22, 2003, telling us they were based on 50 degrees F and 30 inches of Mercury. The posting is found in the archive. One correction to that posting is that the constant 12.7 mentioned for the Q tables should actually be 12.2.
