    Hello to all,

When you see Orion in this position close to the horizon, you are observing it from northern latitudes (in latitudes where trees grow quite tall too). Orion is about to set and therefore Orion is more or less to the west, probably around an azimuth 250°.

    * The Moon illuminated Limb orientation tilted "upwards" is then quite strange then for a Moon shining in the West.

    * The Moon is about only 50° to 60° away from the Sun and its bright limb directs towards a Sun higher over the horizon than the Moon itself, i.e. well above the horizon, while it is looking like it is already night time.

    Strange, indeed ! ....

    Kermit
