Re: Status of Celestial Nav in 2015

    Ken,
I think this is a very good idea.
At the age of 14, I became excited with Cel Nav, learned what I could
    from the books, including trigonometry,
and as a result later became a mathematician.

So in some sense this determined my profession, and I never regretted.

    Alex.

Maybe this is a little aside the question, but at Celestaire we have
always had two projects in mind, and canvassed many people who have
agree with the ideas. 1. To institute a celestial navigation merit
badge for the boy scouts (or sea scouts) and I guess for PC I should
add girl scouts. They already have a Pathfinding badge, and an
Astronomy badge. This adds the two together with a little math. The
point here is that everyone I have ever talked to thought it was a
good idea. We even got Davis Instruments to promise to produce a
special BSA Mark 3 version. 2. Having talked to many vendors and
retailers in the Outdoor Industry, I had high agreement that a Louis
& Clark kit would be a good seller, and better yet bolster outdoor
activities because it gives one one more thing to do while hiking.
Unfortunately time has marched on and left these projects undone, and
I am getting too old to take on extra work. If anyone wants to try
these things Celestaire would be happy to assist.
    Ken
