One phenomena which I can recall reading of, but I can’t remember where, was that it was not unknown for bomber crews in WW2 following a stepped descent returning to base in the UK to experience more than one sunrise as the aircraft descended. Whether this was possible or was largely myth can presumably be tested using the instructions on pages A12-13 and the graphs on pages A151-152 of the air almanac, but it’s going to require a fresh mind with time to spare.
