How does one determine the index error in this type of sextant?
(In any bubble sextant?)
How is the Tamaya set up to correct for the index error, once determined?

I wonder whether your instrument might not be a C Plath that has been named Tamaya. It was common practice among makers of sextants, chronometers, watches and clocks to sell completed instruments for other sellers to put their names on as if they had made them.I have a WWII Tamaya nautical sextant that is indistinguishable from a Plath, except for the lighting system, which is the same as on yours.
I attach a scan of a Plath Coutinho so you can compare if you haven't already done so.
