    There's a sextant to blame...

I have a couple of regular searches for navigation topics set up on google news. One searches all news items for any mention of sextants, another searches for any mention of celestial navigation.

The current top six hits for celestial navigation are:
    1) a mention of a lecture on the navigation of Lewis & Clark at Fort Clatsop in Oregon.
    2) a review of a space video game (a different meaning of "celestial").
    3) an announcement for a celestial navigation class at a community college in North Carolina.
    4) yet another superficial article about the mystery of Amelia Earhart.
    5) a brief mention in an article about the Hawaiian ocean-going canoe Hokulea.
    And finally... drum roll, please...
    6) an article about Jimmy Buffet turning 60 two weeks ago in which we learn that Buffett wrote about another birthday which he "celebrated by piloting his private jet from the Cayman Islands to Costa Rica to Colombia and drinking copiously, while contemplating 'spirituality' and his goals going forward: 'Learn celestial navigation,' 'Swim with dolphins,' 'Start therapy'." He wrote down those goals after his fiftieth birthday ten years ago. I wonder if he ever got around to it... swimming with dolphins, that is...  :-)
