You may be thinking of his "Narrative", available in 2 editions from The Champlain Society (both online). A third edition entitled "David Thompson's Travels" has just been published (the 1st volume of 3). Or you may be thinking of Belyea's "Columbia Journals". Thompson's actual field journals, though, are only available in the Archives of Ontario and the Hudson Bay archives.
