Thank you, Brad -

As I read it, on the day of the full moon, Bowditch gets high tide
within a half-hour of tbone's 1002. Adding 6h15m to Bowditch's 1030,
gives low tide at 1645 versus tbone's 1610.

These are the sort of results I used to get sailing the Sound and East
Coast, and I found they served me well.

which is a better predictor of tide times: the local hour angle of the actual 
Moon or the local hour angle of the mean Moon (which we can imagine moving 
along the celestial equator with constant angular velocity)?
