Frank, OK, by "sextant" I mean a "reflection instrument" in general, of course, and the date they gave is wrong. And they used a photo of a cheap modern reproduction, not a real instrument to illustrate it. (After having seen thousands of e-bay listings, I can tell even from such a small photo:-) Anyway, I think this was a great invention, the reflecting instrument, but certainly not in the category of "Top 50 inventions since the wheel". And I have other reservatons about this list as well (as probably everyone has). For example, such things as stirrup or composite bow probably had greater influence on history than nuclear weapons:-) Alex. not > I agree that the order is strange.
