The bridge and the command centre/combat information centre (operations room/action information centre on British warships) are two different things. Usually on warships (with the exception of the smallest and submarines) the same is the case with the bridge and the wheelhouse/steering station. There are sensible combat and damage control reasons for those separations. But no warship I’m familiar with has no bridge with windows (it would violate Colregs for starters). Navigating and fighting the ship are two different activities and, although there are overlaps and some duplication of instrumentation (e.g. radar), the two activities are conducted separately wth the navigation being done on the bridge.

I was one of a group who took a tour of HMS Dauntless some years ago and the one thing that was noticable in the command centre (bridge) deep within the bowels of the ship, lit principally by the glow from a myriad of computer monitors - there were no windows.
