Use a calculator to convert units?! What is this, 2010??  :)

Heh. If you haven't tried this yet, visit Google and ask: what is 15000 feet in meters? Or 28.90 in Hg in kPa? Each result includes a built-in calculator with preset conversions factors and also a nice hint on doing calculations without using their tool. Hard to beat

How do you think I worked out that 10,000 feet is 3048 m? I went to google and typed 10000 feet in m!  I use google for all unit conversions. When writing the post I forgot that reporters in the 21st century probably do not know how to use a calculator let alone own one.

The point you are raising is that google is verty intelligent. If I go to a non-google site and make a single error in the search string I will probably not get a hit. If I go to google and type just about every character incorrectly google will usually work out what I mean.
