"which seem to be printed on request by an Australian outfit called Lulu, at reasonable prices. What I would like to have is a printed version of that Calc documentation printed out in the same way, but alas! Calc doesn't seem to feature in the list. I live in hope that some day it will." Email them and ask (if you haven't already). Technical document printing companies are rapidly approaching the ideal of print-on-demand. I looked at your test case for an iterative calculation, and I would say that you have found an "anomaly" in Calc (anomaly is polite for "bug"). If it doesn't behave as Excel behaves, then it's behaving badly. Incidentally, I still feel that circular references are a "bad idea", in part because we can't be quite sure how they're operating behind the scenes, just as you've found. There is no obviously logical way to do them. For what it's worth, in those rare circumstances where I do an iterative calculation in a spreadsheet, I use a bunch of off-screen cells to accomplish the job. If it can't be done that way, then to me it's not a spreadsheet problem and it's best done in code (which may be accessible from the spreadsheet, e.g. VBA, but it's not part of the spreadsheet analysis paradigm). -FER --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
