Dear Paul,
In reply to your two posts [NavList #13843] and [NavList #13850] both published on Sep 12, 2010 :
First of all, thanks for publishing your Venus sights.
Your full set of new pictures is very "readable" now and much better in this respect than your first picture published in [NavList #13795]. When I printed your picture from [NavList #13843], even the Navigator printed results which read perfectly well on my computer screen are readable OK on paper. So thank you again for taking great care for publishing very clear pictures.
So I played with my Computer to find :
Intercept 0.4 NM Towards and Azimut 010°7
These are very close results to the ones you obtained by "Navigator". The 0.1 NM difference in Intercept might be explained by a difference in the calculated Apparent Coordinates of Venus.
Apparently Navigator gets GHA = 180°30'6 and Dec = S 11°40'2, while I am using
same value for Declination, and GHA = 180°30'8, which by the way is the very same value you got on the upper right corner of you Plotting sheet. Did you dervive these hand written values from the Nautical Almanac ?
Perhaps one final suggestion : the way you seem to write - or better : "the way I can read" - your angle values might be a bit confusing. As an example, the handwritten GHA angle on top right of the page certainly is 168 degrees 59 minutes 6 tenths of a minute (168°59'6) however I can read it as 168 degrees 59 minutes 6 arcseconds (168°59'6"). To the best of my knowledge the " sign has been widely used for centuries as a universal symbol for arcsecond.
As a conclusion, thank you very much for your enthusiam and for sharing with us "real world observations" exactly in the same way Jeremy has been regularly doing.
By the Way ... Jeremy, are u with me ? more shots data ? how about published your next Lunar Venus distance data ???
any upcoming Venus-Moon Lunar from you too Paul ??? :-))
Best Regards to you all
Kermit
