    Norm,

For Starry Night Backyard (don't know which version you have), place the cursor on one of the bodies, making sure the cursor appears as an arrow, not a hand.  Click and hold and drag over to the other body.  A line will be drawn as you move, with the angular separation displayed continuously.  When you get close enough to the second body the cursor should snap to it, and the angular separation will be displayed to the nearest arc-second.

    Stan

I should have asked if this existed, but I had fun anyway extracting the separation of Venus and Jupiter from ephemerides.  Dusted off my spherical trig and had at it. I have Starry Night which generates the Ephemerides but does not have an option to find the separation of two objects.  Maybe next version.  Or maybe I just couldn't locate it. Maybe its useful.  Looking forward (upward) to sharpening my skills on these two bright objects.
