    Depends on the receiver/system. If you lose GPS signals but the
    equipment is still functioning otherwise, you might be able to consult
    the unit's track log for the positioning history. If the unit output
    NMEA sentences and these were stored, they could be consulted. And you
    could periodically do a screen dump and save as needed. These outputs
    could be printed for a hard copy IF a printer was available. Perhaps
    on a large ship but I doubt if smaller vessels would have one.
