           Disregard my previous post. I shot my mouth off before I really understood the depth of what you were asking. If I paraphrase...your question is "does the quantity r returned by the function Pol() when calculating azimuth have any useful interpretation?" At first glance, just looking at the algebraic expression that you get it doesn't seem to be the case but it's an interesting question and I will dig into it some more,
