    Appears you are receiving a lot of good input, Mike.
    
    In one post you consider putting a cheap digital camera on a 5m pole
    and triggering it to take photos at intervals.  Microsoft has a free
    download for Windows, called "Timershot", with which you can take
    pictures at specified time intervals from a web camera connected to
    your computer, and save them to a location that you designate. You can
    buy a web camera for not much more than a cheap digital camera.
    
    Don't know if this will meet your current needs, but it seems an
    interesting application .
