Last month my dock neighbor (Rich Reynolds) took a windjammer cruise from Tenerife to Barbados. Before he left I set him up with my Ebbco Special plastic sextant which took up very little space in his travel duffle. His CN kit included smart phone NA and reduction apps, plotting sheets, hand held GPS, digital watch, course plotter, pocket notebook,and 0.5mm mechanical pencil. To his amazement the large majority of sunlines were within 3' nautical miles of GPS. As a matter of fact the watch officer accused him of fudging his sights and that a plastic sextant wasn't able to do what Rich was doing with it. What a complement ! Rich only did sunlines and will have to wait until his next cruise to do star sights.
Because of this Ebbco's now proven real world performance I am forced to raise it's grade from C+ to a B which is on par with the Davis Mark 15 plastic sextant.
