Here in Indiana about twenty five years ago I took
then taught both I and JN courses while we are at about lat forty digs so we had
a lot of ice to deal with. Most of our lakes are small like less than a
mile across but we had accurate charts of the lakes so we could use the dip
chart chart very accurately so most of our results were in the 2-3 miles
accuracy. I asked the Sups national teacher as to how many students used
dip short charts and was surprised to hear tar nearly half did. If
the lake was frozedntotally we had no luck but ice around the edge was
ok.
