Herb-Nope. I've only steered one ship, and that qualified by a whole ten feet OAL past the minimum size for "ship". On boats, especially auxiliary sail boats, no one I know bothers to count the revs, or has any idea about how far forward each one propels the boat. We just try to stay under the red line when forced to use the iron genny. Sure, Cigarette Boat drag racing. I don't actually think there are any local to me, but we'd only use them to calibrate the water log and most folks who sail would just set that as "close enough" on a good day in still waters vs. the GPS.
