For example, I found Frank's almanac very useful when I was studying the Cook expedition observations:-) (Results have been posted on this list long ago). I don't remember how far Frank's almanac extends to the past, and whether it can be safely used in the investigation of Hypparchus and Babilonian's data. But for XVIII century it worked perfectly.
