Alan,
There is reasonable room for DR error when making landfall at Oahu. The Hawaiian island chain spans three degrees of Latitude and the volcanic mountains can be seen as far as 100 nautical miles away in good visibility. Don't forget there are radio stations on all the islands. Homing in on an AM Honolulu rock and roll station will get you home for sure. Don Ho would be better yet ;-)
